DG, just checked out your blog. COOL photos!! An d great travelogue. Glad you enjoyed India, and took the bad in stride with the good. And really hope you did not experience discrimination (I've heard some stories from people from Africa).

Wonderful movie this..and I have to apologise for adding another song to the list as one of my favourites from this movie "Dil ka haal sune dil wala" which I think is the song Raj Kapoor sings to the slum-dwellers on the first night he is there..

A funny incident re this movie happened to me when I went to buy my first car a few years agi. The car dealer in inimitable car dealer style was trying anythig and everything to make a sell and started talking to me about Raj Kapoor and Shree 420 and Awara in a think Russian accent; had me in fits of laughter.

It was only after conversing with my father when I got home did I come to realise/appreciate how popular Raj Kapoor movies were in the Eastern Bloc in the 50's 60's..

Maajhi, amazingly this is the first time I've seen this message! Thanks so much. I thought India was fantastic and such a fascinating place of colours and contrasts (now I sound like a travel brochure). I had an amazing time and can't wait to go back. The overwhelming majority of the people we met were friendly, kind and warm. We were fortunate - there were a couple of minor negative incidents but those were easy to brush off.
